Das Erkenntnisbedürfnis und unsere Erkenntnis
Unser Erkenntnisbedürfnis ist primär darauf gerichtet, beobachtbare Ereignisse zu verstehen, sie erklären und vorhersagen zu können. Nur wenn eine Erkenntnis das leistet, wird das Erkenntnisbedürfnis befriedigt, die Erkenntnis wird angenommen, sie wird angeeignet. Ein Erkenntnisbedürfnis erwächst aus dem Erkenntnissystem, das als „geistige Heimat“ des Erkennenden Paradigma seines Denkens ist. (vgl auch meinen Blogeintrag!) Ein Evolutionsbiologe wird beispielsweise die Mitteilung, dass Menschen- und Saurierknochen in derselben geologischen Schicht gefunden wurden, wohl ohne jede weitere Prüfung in das Reich der Märchen verweisen, während ein Kreationist sie ebenso ohne jede weitere Prüfung als unwiderlegbaren Beweis seiner Auffassung bejubeln würde.
Das unserem wissenschaftlichen Denken zugrunde liegende Paradigma ist das Kausalitätsparadigma. In diesem Paradigma muss jede Erklärung ihren Platz finden. In diesem Paradigma hat ein Subjekt mit eigenem Willen und eigenen Bedürfnissen jedoch keinen Platz, von ihm wird abstrahiert. Dieser Abstraktion vom Subjekt und seinem Bedürfnis fällt nun auch das Erkenntnisbedürfnis selbst zum Opfer. Wir reflektieren es nicht mehr und bedenken beim Erkennen nicht mehr, dass wir nicht nach einer beliebigen wahren Erkenntnis suchen, sondern nach einer kausalen Erklärung. Alle nichtkausalen Erklärungen werden vor allem in den Naturwissenschaften als „metaphysisch“ und damit als unwissenschaftlich, eben als subjektiv betrachtet und zurückgewiesen. Sie befriedigen das Bedürfnis nach „objektiver“ Erkenntnis nicht. Dabei wird nicht reflektiert, dass es eben dieses subjektive Bedürfnis des erkennenden Naturwissenschaftlers ist, mit dem er eine Erkenntnis bewertet. Wir suchen sucht keine beliebige Erkenntnis, sondern eine kausalistische. Dieses Bedürfnis bestimmt, was wir wissen wollen (selbst wenn wir die Existenz eines eigenen Willen bestreiten). Dabei bemerken wir gar nicht, in welche spanischen Stiefel unser Wollen unser Denken gezwängt hat.
Diese Abstraktion vom Subjektiven ist aber nur in reflektierter Form – und nur in dieser – und nur solange berechtigt, solange keine Subjekte im Spiel sind.
Das wird beispielsweise in den Debatten um den Systembegriff deutlich. Man strebt „selbstverständlich“ einen „naturwissenschaftlichen“, „objektiven“ und das heißt. kausalistischen Systembegriff an, den Begriff eines „Systems ohne Subjekt“. Ein solcher Begriff muss aber unvollständig bleiben, weil Merkmale wie „Funktion“ oder „Sinn“ das Subjekt als Bezugsgröße erfordern und rein kausalistisch nicht zu beschreiben sind. Dieses Hindernis wird nun mit den verschiedensten Krücken zu umgehen versucht. Der „objektive Beobachter“ ist dabei noch die ungefährlichste weil halbherzige Scheinlösung. Mag diese Lösung für Quantenphysik und Relativitätstheorie noch angehen, wird sie für Wissenschaften von Subjekten wie Biologie oder
Ein anderer Ansatz besteht darin, das Subjekt mit dem Begriff „Systemtheorie 2. Ordnung“ in die Systemtheorie einzuführen. Dieser Ansatz erfordert aber, um vollständig zu sein, das Konstrukt eines „Beobachters des Beobachters“ usw., was schließlich zu einem unendlichen Regress führt. Dieser kann nur aufgehoben werden, wenn das Subjekt auch als „Ich“ begriffen wird. Ich bedarf der Erkenntnis für mein Erkenntnisbedürfnis, denn die Erkenntnis befriedigt mein Erkenntnisbedürfnis nur dann, wenn sie das Ereignis in meinem Erkenntnissystem erklärt. Dann aber wäre der Subjektbegriff aber „subjektiv“, für jeden gäbe es dann einen anderen. Deshalb bleibt dieser Systembegriff entweder unvollständig oder widersprüchlich.
In den biologischen Wissenschaften wird das Leben (das lebende System) in das Kausalitätsparadigma eingeordnet und ebenfalls auf die kausalistische Denkfigur „Ursache – Wirkung“ abgebildet. Dieser Position ist stets widersprochen worden. Dieser Streit der Positionen ist als „Mechanismus – Vitalismus – Streit“ Teil der Geschichte der Biologie [1]. Heute spielen in der Biologie Positionen, die sich (noch oder schon wieder) als vitalistisch outen, keine bedeutende Rolle mehr. Der Vitalismus wird gelegentlich von der Emergenztheorie ersetzt. Gelöst ist die Frage nach der Natur des Lebendigen dadurch nicht, das Problem wird nur verschwiegen. Damit aber ist der Tummelplatz geschaffen, auf dem sich die Apologeten des ID und andere Kreationisten austoben.
Noch deutlicher wird die Unhaltbarkeit des Versuchs, in der wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnis vom Subjektiven zu abstrahieren, in den psychologischen Wissenschaften.[2] Es ist die gemeinsame Überzeugung von Psychologen und Erkenntnistheoretikern, dass Psyche und Geist – was immer das sein mag - auf jeden Fall immaterieller Natur sind, deren Gesetze nicht auf die Gesetze der Naturwissenschaften zurückgeführt werden und die nicht oder zumindest nicht ausschließlich in der Sprache der Naturwissenschaften dargestellt werden können. Zugleich aber will man nicht darauf verzichten, diese Gegenstände mit den Methoden der Naturwissenschaften zu untersuchen. Besonders die
Wenn wir die Welt so erkennen wollen, wie sie wirklich ist, wenn das unser Erkenntnisbedürfnis ist, dann reicht der Kausalismus allein nicht aus. Wir werden wir uns unweigerlich dem Subjekt zuwenden müssen und dieses in unser wissenschaftliches Denken einbeziehen, denn unsere Welt von heute ist eine Welt mit Subjekten, die die Welt zunehmend nach ihrem Willen gestalten und erkennen. Unsere Welt ist eine gestaltete und erkannte Welt.
